You can create test for teachers to assign to their students’ to-do lists.

1. Title Information & Instructions

  • Type in the name of the custom assessments, in the Assignment name entry field.
  • Enter instructions for students to follow to complete the assessments, in the Student instructions entry field.
  • Enter the non-system resource that the student will need to use in order to complete the assessments in the Resource field.

2. Assignment Information

  • The subject of the resource you choose is displayed here.

3. Add Teacher(s)

  • Assignments can be made to a teacher, teachers in a school, or teachers in a district. Select the teacher(s) who may receive the assignment.
  • To add one or more teacher(s) to the assignment, select the school(s), grades(s), and then click Find Teachers.
    • To provide the assignment to all of the teachers on the Available teachers list, click Add All.
    • To provide the assignment to individual teachers, select the teacher(s) that you want to add from the Available teachers list on the left of the screen, and then click Add.
    • To remove teachers from the Teachers for this assignment field:
    • To remove all of the teachers from the assignment, click the Remove All button.
    • To remove individual teachers from the assignment, select the teachers(s) that you want to remove from the Teachers for this assignment list on the right of the screen. Then click the Remove button.

4. Assessment settings

  • To display the sections included on the test, click the Select Sections button. By default, the test will include all sections. (This field is optional.)
    Note: See the 'Selecting Sections in an Assignment' on this page for more information on how to select sections.
  • Select a standard set from the Viewing Results drop down box. This will give your students the ability to see a curriculum map reference when viewing the assessment from their to-do list. (This field is optional.)

5. Selecting Sections in an Assignment

  • Clicking the Select Sections button will allow you to view all of the sub-sections included on a particular test.
    Note: This option is only available for select resources and only for those assignments that used pre-existing system resources.
  • To remove a specific section from the test, uncheck the appropriate section’s checkbox.
  • To view the contents of a specific question on the test, click the plus () icon.
  • To save changes and return to the previous page, click the Save button.
  • To return to the previous page, click the Cancel button.

6. Information to the Teachers

  • Select the assessment's Proposed due date by clicking the calendar icon and choosing a date.
    Note: The system will automatically set the due date as one week from the day the assignment is created if no other date is selected.
  • You can add any comment to the teacher(s) in the Comment to teacher comment box.
  • To save the assessments, click the Save button.
  • To exit the screen without saving any of your changes, click the Cancel button.

    * You can select more than one teacher by holding down the Control (Ctrl) key on your keyboard (the Apple key if you are using a Mac computer) and clicking on multiple teachers. You can also click on one teachers, then hold the Shift key, and click on a second teacher to highlight all of the teachers between those two teachers.

7. Display an Assessment

  • In the Title Information & Instructions section on the Add Test screen, click the hyperlink to the Resource. This is displayed in blue, underlined text. The custom assessments open as a web page in a new browser.
