Add Assignment

You can create custom assignments utilizing recourses outside of ThinkCentral for teachers to assign to their students.

1. Title Information & Instructions

  1. In the Assignment Name field, type the name of the custom assignment.
  2. Enter instructions in the Student instructions field.
  3. In the Add field, enter the resource that the student will need to complete the assignment.
  4. Select a subject from the Subject drop-down list.

2. Add Teacher(s)

  • Assignments can be delegated to an individual teacher, or to two or more teachers in a school or  district.
  • The teacher can access the assignments through the Administrator’s Assignment(s) link on the View Assignments page. Select the teacher(s) who may receive the assignment.
  • To add one or more teacher(s) to the assignment, select the school(s), grades(s), and then click Find Teachers.
    • To delegate the assignment to all of the teachers on the  list, click Add All.
    • To delegate the assignment to individual teachers, select the teacher(s) that you want to add, and then click Add.
    • To select a consecutive group of teachers, click the first teacher’s, press and hold down the Shift key, and then click the last teacher’s name.
    • To select non-consecutive teachers, press and hold down the Ctrl key, and then click the name of each teacher that you want to select.
  • To remove teachers from the Teachers for this assignment field:
    • To remove all of the teachers from the assignment, click Remove All.
    • To remove individual teachers from the assignment, select the teachers(s) that you want to remove from the Teachers for this assignment list on the right of the screen, and click Remove.

3. Provide Information to Teachers

  • To set the assignment's Proposed due date, click the calendar and select a date.
    Note: ThinkCentral will automatically set the due date as one week from the day the assignment is created if no other date is selected.
  • You can add a comment for the teacher in the Comment to teacher comment box.
  • When you selected the date and entered the comment, click Save.
  • To exit without saving any of your input, click Cancel.

4. Add a Custom Resource

  1. Click Assignments on the Home page, and then click Make Custom Assignment , which is at the bottom of the View Assignments screen.
  2. On the Make Custom Assignment screen, click Add Resources.
  3. On the Resource Type dropdown list, select either Text Only or URL.
  4. Enter data in the Text Description field, or type the URL that you want to use. If you have entered a URL, you can enter additional information in the Link Text field.
  5. Click Save, and then click OK on the message that appears.
  6. On the Make Custom Assignment screen, the new custom resource is displayed at bottom of the Custom Resources List. Under Assignment information, enter the appropriate data in the Class, Subject, and Group fields.
  7. In the Available Teachers box, select the teachers, and click Add>. To add all the teachers on the list, click Add All>>.
  8. Enter the Available date, Due date, and Time Available, and then click Save.

5. Edit a Custom Resource

  • On the Custom Resource(s) list, click Edit on the resource that you want to change. The Edit Custom Resource screen displays the custom resource that you selected. Make the changes that you require, and then click Save.

6. Delete a Custom Resource

  • On the Custom Resource(s) list, click Delete on the resource that you want to delete. When the message asking Are you sure you want to delete this resource?appears, click Yes.

7. Display a Custom Assignment

  • In the Student Information section on the View Custom Assignment screen, click the hyperlink to the assignment. This is displayed in blue, underlined text. The custom assignment opens as a web page in a new browser.

8. Preview a Custom Assignment

  • Before saving the custom assignment, click Preview on the Make Custom Assignment screen, and then click the link to the assignment.
